Using the Web to get back into cycling shape

About this time each year, I start thinking about getting into shape for the upcoming cycling season. For me, it’s impossible to eat well and exercise during the holidays. But once February rolls around, I start to get serious about losing that winter weight.

Naturally, I look to the Web to help. I ran across dailyburn.com, which I can use to track my calorie intake, exercises and weight. One of the reasons I chose site is that it also has a free iPhone app that syncs with the site.

My first Century and a great weekend getaway

This past weekend, we drove down to Santa Fe to eat some good food, see some cool sites and most importantly, ride in the Santa Fe Century.

I’ve been preparing for this ride since the beginning of the year, but to be honest, I had a tinge of doubt that I’d be ready.

We rolled into town around 1 p.m. and checked into our hotel (the Sage Inn). The hotel made a big fuss about keeping our bikes in the rooms and wanted us to check them into hotel storage. We told them that we’d rather keep them locked on the car rack. My lips are sealed as to where my bike spent the night ;-)

Cycling my way through the summer

In less than two weeks, I’m headed to Santa Fe to ride in the Santa Fe Century. A century ride, as you may have guessed is 100 miles. About a month after Santa Fe is the MS 150, which is a ride close to my heart. I pledged to raise $1,000 to help fund research for MS. As of today, I’m 95% percent there! I’ve always known that I have a great circle of friends and family, but this fundraising effort has only reinforced how generous and caring they really are. Thank you so much to everyone who has donated!
