About Me

I'm a Web geek, a Beer geek and a Bike geek. I'm married to a woman who challenges and inspires me and we have an awesome baby girl. We've also got a dog that has had more surgeries in the three years we've had him, than most people have in their entire lives. We've got two cats that don't get along with said dog.

Web Geek
I'm currently a Software Product Manager for the Bakersfield Californian newspaper. In this role, I maintain and manage the Californian's network of niche social media sites. Since I live near Denver, I do this all from home.
I started my Web geekiness with a copy of an HTML 5 book I picked up for $5 in the Barnes & Noble Bargain Bin in the mid 90s. With that knowledge, I built a a basic newspaper.com, which was very time consuming to update.
When Web 2.0 rolled around, I jumped on with abandon. Name a Web 2.0 site and I've probably been there. You can follow me on Twitter at @justinian

Beer Geek
For Christmas one year, my dad bought me a homebrewing kit. I haven't looked back. I'm a Hop Head through and through. I used to blog exclusively about Beer and especially Colorado Micro Breweries, but lately, I'm content just to drink them.

Bike Geek
As a teenager I joined our high school bike club and we rode from Denver to Taos, NM. In college and for a few years after, I stopped riding. But recently, I got back into it. So far in 2009, I rode two centuries and put in more than 2,000 miles on two wheels. If I had a commute, I'd do it on the bike.
I'm a bit of a media geek as well. In fact, in my career to date, I've never worked at a company that wasn't a newspaper.
