I haven’t been blogging much lately, which is due to some really big news. Christina and I are having a baby!
We found out on April 9, when C took a home pregnancy test, which turned out positive. When she took another one the next day and the result didn’t change, we knew we were in it for the long haul.
Our friends lent us a copy of the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility and it worked the first month we tried - Even after I had been riding my bike and sitting in Hot Springs! We didn't expect it to happen so quickly!
We went to our normal doctor just to make sure that the at-home tests were correct. And they were! It was around this time that we figured out that we were already four weeks pregnant (for some reason, they start the count at ovulation).
The next step was to see the Baby Doctor. This was a long appointment. We got there at about 1:45 and didn’t leave until 4:30! We went through all sorts of family and personal medical history, poor Christina had to have another physical, get an H1N1 vaccine and then she had to give a whole bunch of blood. She handled it all like a trooper.
We’re scheduled to have another appointment in 4 weeks, at which time we should get the first ultrasound. Right now, the baby is about the size of a blueberry.
So far Christina is expecting all the normal pregnancy signs, which according to the doctor is a good thing since that means her body is producing lots of pregnancy hormones. I’m trying my best to step up and keep the house (and litter boxes) clean and make life easier for her.
We picked up a copy of What to Expect When You’re Expecting and a bunch of pregnancy magazines. I never thought I’d be sitting around reading pregnancy magazines!
