Scrabulous is back - sort of

wordscraperIt looks like brothers Rajat & Jayant don't give up easily. Several days after they were forced to pull their Scrabulous app from Facebook, they introduced a new app called WordScraper.

Scrabulous fans will notice a similar, well-loved interface. The board and tiles are different, but game play looks to be the same. I just started a game, but I can't quite figure out the scoring. The tiles do not appear to hold unique numerical points.

I'm playing two games using the "official" Scrabble app and all I can say about it is that it's annoying. The game takes a few seconds to load (when it loads at all) and each time you switch to a new game, it goes through the loading process.

The other really annoying thing about the game is that it's full of eye-candy animations that in my opinion distract from game play (and probably account for some of the load time).

Scrabulous was cool because of it's utter simplicity. The "official" Scrabble app's design and animations make me feel like I'm playing a game designed for tweens.

If you're on Facebook, challenge me to a game of WordScraper.

CNETnews.com's Caroline McCarthy tipped me off to this.
